Materials and tools
A course by Luaiso Lopez , Graphic Designer
About the video: Materials and tools
Overview
“In this lesson I will show you what materials and tools I work with and their characteristics. To start, you will need wire and a pair of small pliers, with this you will create the skeleton of your Art Toy, which will be the structure that keeps it firm. The next material you will work with is aluminum foil and thin-width painter's tape, with them we will make the volumes on the skeleton, to add consistency to the structure, reduce weight and save modeling material. The most important material of all is polymer clay. It is a ductile material similar to plasticine with the characteristic that it does not harden until it is baked, and when it does, it maintains its shape. To work the clay we will use some modeling tools from the Sculpey brand, which you can find in physical craft stores or on the internet. Finally, you will need sandpaper, if it is water-based, better. Sanding is one of the most important steps when it comes to achieving a fine and clean finish on your work, although it is not essential. It will be fine with two hardnesses 280 and 180.”
In this video lesson Luaiso Lopez addresses the topic: Materials and tools, which is part of the Domestika online course: Design and Creation of an Art Toy: From Person to Character. Learn how to capture the characteristics of a person and bring them to life in a 3D character.

Then with polymer clay, the material that we will use the most, It is like plasticine and when you put it in the oven it hardens. In some countries it is difficult to find.
