Design and Creation of an Art Toy: From Person to Character

“Dear student, we have reached the end of the course. I hope you have learned and enjoyed the process of creating an art toy from a person, now you have the knowledge to create a work of art based on the people who inspire you. Next, we are going to review the steps I have followed to make my art toy: Preparation of the art toy First I have chosen the reference of a character to be able to take advantage of. Afterwards, I have selected the materials with which I wanted to work. Finally, I have drawn a simple sketch to put my idea on paper.

Body I've made the skeleton out of wire and added volume to the body. Then it's time to bake and sand carefully. I recommend spending time on this step, a good sanding will give you a professional finish.
Clothes and accessories I have taken measurements of my character's body to draw the patterns on paper and transfer them to the polymer clay. Thus, afterwards I have been able to dress the figure.
Head Later I molded the head, one of the most important parts to give character to an art toy.
Color and finish And finally, as we have seen at the end of Unit 3, I have put all the pieces together and I have applied color to the missing parts, added details with markers and applied several layers of matte varnish to fix the paint.
Final result This is what my character looks like. Now it's your turn!
