About the final project for: Advanced Cinematography Techniques

Advanced Cinematography Techniques

“We have now reached the end of our course. I hope you enjoyed it a lot and that everything you have learned has served as inspiration to create your own audiovisual pieces. Next, I am going to review the phases that I have followed to carry out my final project: FILMING After searching and testing the material to use, taking into account what we learned about cameras and light in Unit 2, now is the time for action. In this case I have shot a scene in two different ways, using the sequence shot and also shooting shot by shot. And all this with a single camera. Shooting planning I have started preparing the shoot to define the location of the lights, the camera movement, the action of the characters ... When you go to face the shoot, plan well before anything else how you are going to film it and reflect on why you have made the decisions that you've taken.

Sequence shot The sequence shot requires very careful planning, as we cannot cut. I have filmed several takes and I have chosen the one that I liked the most of all.
Plane to plane In this case, I have shot the same scene but shooting different shots, to later, in post-production, give the feeling of action through montage. This type of filming allows taking more care of the frames and making adjustments in comparison to the greater spontaneity and immediacy of the sequence shot.
POSTPRODUCTION Once the scenes have been shot, it is time to put into practice the concepts about color that we have learned in Unit 4 of the course. Colorization After visualizing the shot, I have applied the LUT that I created and retouched the color of my pieces.
Final piece After finishing the colorization, the piece is finished. Then comes the time to observe, analyze and draw conclusions, see what can be improved and where we have been able to fail.
Now is your turn. Share your final project by clicking "Create your project". Remember to share both the result of the two pieces that you have rolled and the steps that have led you to them. It would also be interesting if you shared the final analysis, comparing the results of the shot-to-shot and the sequence shot. This is a long-distance race. It always happens to me that when I finish a project I think about everything that I could improve or perhaps change ... It is something constructive and good, since it allows you to be constantly learning. Remember that the most important thing is always to know our tools, so when we have an idea or story to tell, we will know what the tools we are going to need to carry it out are going to be. If you need any information, I have left you quite a few additional resources throughout the course and I will also be on the forum, although it may sometimes take a while to respond because you already know that the world of filming is time consuming. Also, there are a lot of colleagues who can help you out and help you, or maybe you can help them if you know something they have asked. Finally, I say goodbye and I thank you for taking this course. It has been a very nice and enriching experience to share with you some of my experiences, I hope they can help you. I invite you to do a personal final project that you like and that you want to tell, do not stop being inspired by other movies, artists or stories that you have read, seen or experienced. Enjoy the process and thank you for joining me in this course. See you on the forum! ”

“Final project In this lesson I am going to give you a summary of what we saw in the course. As you will remember, we started by seeing the differences between spherical and anamorphic optics. You have to choose one or the other depending on what you want to transmit. Then we continue talking a little about sensitometry. Knowing how to choose the gamma curve in which we will work in the project it is important to later not have a lot of data flow in post-production. By choosing our camera, We did a review of the sensors that we find in the market. Whether small or large sensors, we have to t...”
