About the final project for: Creating Jewelry with Polymer Clay

Creating Jewelry with Polymer Clay

“Dear student, First of all, I would like to congratulate you on reaching the end of this course. I hope you enjoyed the content and that you are even more eager to explore this fantastic material that is polymer clay. Now let's review what we saw in this course. In Unit 1, I talked a little about myself, about my artistic journey and shared with you some of my inspirations that motivated me to enter this world of polymer clay. In Unit 2, we saw the materials and tools that will be useful for you to carry out your projects and we had a more theoretical class on polymer clay. We also talked about the importance of using references, we created a mood board thanks to Pinterest and with the help of these images, we put our ideas of pieces to work on paper. In the end, with these sketches, we outlined a strategy for the elaboration of each of the pieces. In Unit 3, we started the modeling phase. I gave you several tips to prevent dust and dirt from settling on the pieces you are modeling. We also took advantage of the ability of polymer clay to be fired several times to make parts easier. We saw at this stage the importance of having a plan in mind on how to build your pieces. As it may be difficult to remove cooked parts of pasta. You must be careful not to make such mistakes. In Unit 4, I showed you how to use acrylic paint to paint on polymer clay, we created several color palettes and moved on to the painting phase of our pieces. Finally, at Unit 5, we finished our pieces with a varnish to protect them and assembled the collars. If you want to sell your pieces, I also showed you some examples of materials needed for shipping to customers. Finally, I told you about social media as a tool to spread your art around the world and shared with you the most important aspects to be successful on Instagram. We also saw that there is a risk of focusing too much on performance indicators, making our move to social media a stressful and demoralizing experience. The most important thing will be to go at your pace and make your presence on social networks a pleasant experience for you. After practicing with these projects that I proposed to do, you can move on to the final project. For this project, I would like you to make a completely different piece, something that comes from your imagination. You can create a necklace, but not only, you can also make another type of jewelry, as well as a small figure, since the technique will be the same. Let your creativity and imagination guide you through this step! I share here with you some of the steps in the process of creating one of the pieces of my final project: I set up my mood board and did the sketch.

I modeled the rabbit using various techniques to obtain the best result.
I painted and finished the piece.
And this was the result. Here is the necklace with the rabbit next to another piece also from the final project.
Now it's your turn! Share your process and the result of your final project with the Domestika creative community and, of course, feel free to ask questions in the forum if you have any questions. Together, we will make the forum a rich space of knowledge and I am sure that we will all learn a lot from each other. At the end of each unit, be sure to read the additional resources and documents for download that I left you to consult. These resources complement what was said in the course of the classes and I also added more useful information that I found pertinent to share with you. I hope you have learned a lot of new things with this course. I shared with you how I usually create my necklaces, step by step, and some of my secrets. With this knowledge, I hope you have the tools you need to carry out your final project and any other project in polymer clay that you want to do in the future. Of course, don't forget to try new things with polymer clay! There are still many other ways to create with this material and, I assure you, there are still many techniques that are waiting to be discovered. We never stop learning and the possibilities are practically endless. Then I am waiting to see the process and the result of your final project and we will meet again in the forum! Don't forget that you can also follow me and stay updated on my projects with my Instagram and Twitter (@thefolkyfox). You can always stop by and say hello! Thanks again for taking this course and see you soon! ”
