About the final project for: Oil Painting for Beginners

Oil Painting for Beginners

“We have reached the end of the course! I hope that you have enjoyed it and that you have acquired enough knowledge and methodologies that allow you to face oil painting without fear or harm. I have presented you how to solve a still life plagued in different ways and you have seen how I have solved it in different ways and with different methods. Now you have the tools and you can choose what to paint yourself. Remember the steps I have followed and the methods I have used. I have first looked for the right reason. You can be inspired anywhere by taking pictures from your mobile or preparing a small set in your own home.

With the chosen motif, the time has come to transfer the image to the support by making the drawing. Remember that drawing the inflections that light produces in the elements will help you to fit better and will make the path of painting easier.
I have started with a simple stain with pure and turpentine colors. Don't worry if it's not exact and the shades blend together. In this phase you are "killing the pore" and giving a color base. Don't forget to put the white aside and not use it.
You can start working from back to front and from top to bottom. Remember the basic law: the elements that are further apart are less saturated, less contrasted and less drawn. Increase the contrast and definition as you get closer to the close-ups. I've started working on the elements from dark to light. These first brushstrokes will help you redraw the elements and center them. You can continue painting from the general to the particular by introducing a first coat of general color that should be thin and then adding brushstrokes of dark and light on wet. Finally I have incorporated the fillings with a stiff bristle brush and have touched up any minor flaws that may have occurred.
Once the project was finished, I let it dry slowly so I could apply the varnish. Use the one you like the most in the way that interests you the most. And this is my box ready.
Follow those methodologies that I have shown you. Then show the creative community of Domestika your result and explain the steps you have followed. It is convenient that you take photographs of each of the phases that you have used to reach your final work, so we can see your journey and appreciate your work. Dare to comment on the work of your colleagues and interact in the forum, helping us and working together makes us bigger. Remember that you can consult me everything you need in the forum, I will be happy to comment on your processes and results. Also, if you feel like it, show us your progress through Instagram with photos and the hashtag #AleCasanovaDomestika. I hope you have enjoyed this whole learning process and that you have learned enough to get started in the wonderful world of oil painting. ”

“Final Project We're at the end of this Domestika course. Thanks for making it this far. In my case, I chose for the final project of the course a still life with different elements. You must choose what you want to paint. When you decide, focus on the composition looking for the motif, and then draw it on the support. The next step will be to paint with oil, from back to front. Later work from dark to light, differentiating organic and inorganic materials. You'll continue painting general details to specific ones. Then apply the impastos and final corrections, and then give a coat of varnis...”
