About the final project for: Botanical Tattoo with Pointillism

Botanical Tattoo with Pointillism

“Thank you very much for joining me throughout this course, we have reached the end and I hope you liked it as much as I did. Hopefully it helps you to continue promoting this art of tattooing. This is growing more and more, and that has helped you explore new techniques that will enhance your graphic style and your own way of doing botanical illustration. Don't forget to look for references to help you expand your graphic library; it is very important to always be watching. In addition, it will be very helpful to study basic concepts of anatomy, especially how muscles determine direction and movement. And, of course, look closely at the structure and functionality of different flowers and plants. All this will help you a lot when designing. Find out and try different machines, sources and needles, so that you discover new techniques that allow you to achieve new and original results.

In the course, I showed you the process of selecting botanical images that we would use as the basis of the design. I showed you how to face the sketch creation phase, not forgetting to take into account the area to be tattooed and its direction. I shared with you my way of making the stencil from the sketch made, always bearing in mind that we must be very careful and perfectionist at this stage, since it represents the final design that will be tattooed on the client.
Then, I showed you the most important hygienic considerations, those that you must meet to work with the necessary care. I showed you how to transfer the stencil to the skin, not forgetting to clean and shave before applying it. I gave you all my advice to face the outline, including the good support of your hand and the control of movement of the phalanx; not forgetting also, keep the needle always at the same depth. We work pointillism step by step, thus achieving the best possible shading and volume, always taking into account an "imaginary" light source that determines the projection of the shadows on the tattoo. Then, we worked on the textures and hatching, and we began to delve into different visual effects that can be achieved with pointillism, gradually achieving the feeling of depth we are looking for.
To finish, I told you the main considerations that must be taken into account to take care of the tattoo in the future, and have a happy client. Remember to face this project with patience and let go of frustration. Pointillism is something that is achieved with a lot of practice and you must practice constantly to train your wrist, and achieve the movements that allow you to apply the technique correctly. This will allow you to define your graphic line and your own stamp with identity.
I propose to choose your favorite flowers and plants, something that represents you and has a meaning for you. It is always good to start with a project that motivates you to get the best out of yourself. I will try to be very attentive to your tasks and your process. Remember that I also work with clients and my full time job is to be a tattoo artist, but I will also try to give myself a space to answer your questions and evaluate your results. Just bear with me. Do not forget also to share your experience with other students, the idea is to build a community together and help us by giving us feedback and advice. Let's share data, let's talk about our mistakes. It's always good to ask, we don't lose anything! ”
