Hair Embroidery Stitching Techniques
“My dear embroiderers: We have reached the end of the course, now you are ready to start your project, but before saying goodbye, let's review the steps that I recommend following to achieve it. We begin by knowing a little more about my work and the recent projects in which I have collaborated with my stitches. I told you how important it is for me to experiment and not set limits when embroidering on a support or interpreting other projects. I told you about the influences that I have been passionate about lately and have inspired me to propose this third course on embroidered characters and hairstyles. In the second unit, we review the materials necessary to make your project, emphasizing that you can use the yarns that you have or prefer (regardless of their brand). Then I told you how I choose a good image to synthesize what composition is interesting to make a diagram and two methods to get to the original pattern. In both digital and analog, you can get the same result. Then I explained how to transfer the design to the garment. And finally, it was time to start embroidering! In the third unit, I explained various methods of laying hair-strands, both to make a special updo, to leave the hair down or to make other hairstyles such as braids, bows or add details with specific stitches. After combing our character, I showed you how to embroider a Canotier hat model and another wool cap. At the end of this unit, we have gone over together the perfect stitches to make the best outlines in your embroidery. In the fourth unit, I have embroidered my final project by selecting an image that I really like and it moved me to my old flat in Raval (Barcelona) where I lived for 16 years.

Señorita Lylo
A course by Señorita Lylo
Loly Ghirardi, also known as Señorita Lylo, is an embroiderer and graphic designer based in Barcelona. After graduating from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), she worked on design projects but gradually began to leave the digital to one side in favor of crafts. That's how she fell in love with embroidery.
Armed with her hoops, threads, and needles, she creates unique pieces and experiments using different mediums. Each project starts with a conceptual search and each stitch is accompanied by an anecdote, personal story, or place she's visited. Over time, she got the opportunity to teach everything she knows about embroidery and it is a vocation that comforts her and continues to inspire her more and more every day.
