About the video: Presentation

Overview

“Hi, I'm Silvia. Passionate about books since I was little, I always listened with enthusiasm to the stories told at my grandfather's printing house and how he spent a lifetime painting maps on a large lithographic stone. My passion for them made me start my studies. I began to know the secrets of books and after much snooping I arrived at the place where I learned everything I know about this precious trade: the artisan bookbinding school-workshop of the Royal Palace of Madrid. After two years of dreaming in the palace and with a thousand knowledge absorbed, I decided to set up my own workshop-studio: LIBRACOS. I remember perfectly that October 1, 2008 in which I sat in my small workshop and listening to the Beatles in the background I realized that I was starting a path, but I never thought it would be so wonderful, fast-paced and with many ups and downs. downs. Well, many more ups than downs. I never thought that books could take me to so many places. Over the years and thanks to that unconsciousness that city tightrope walkers have, I have specialized in different editions. Books with a soul and that are special due to their structure or content. I'm not looking for a way to do things, things come and I shape them. Each project is a seed that comes to life, paper engineering, infinite books, Victorians ... It doesn't matter, they all have a place in this workshop.”

In this video lesson Silvia Hijano Coullaut (Libracos) addresses the topic: Presentation, which is part of the Domestika online course: Advanced Techniques for Creating Pop-Up Books. Learn different mechanisms to create your own three-dimensional book with multiple settings.

“Introduction Hi, I'm Silvia Hijano, artisan bookbinder and creator of Libracos, a crazy paper workshop, you could say, because it's been ages since I made a normal book, where I express and feel all of the things that I do in the form of a book, window display or whatever is asked of me. Some of you will already know me from the "Introduction to pop-up" course but I'll introduce myself for those who don't. Since I was little, I've loved disassembling and assembling things. There were so many things at my parents and grandparents' house, my grandparents had a print shop and the family loved ...”
