“We made it! We reached the end of the course! Now the real journey begins. As you might guess now, a self-portrait is so much more than taking a photo. My intention with this course is to show you that while research and technique are important, there is so much to it. Of course, I also want you to look at the bigger picture (no pun intended) and consider this as a long term process, where the process itself might be more important than that one end product. What I would love to see, at this stage, is your own journey, your process, the steps and missteps you have taken to get to your desired portrait. I want you to guide me through your world the same way I have guided you through mine. I want you to show me the locations you have spotted, your test photos, or the stuff that did not make the cut. I am looking forward to getting into your world! ”

Laura Zalenga is a German freelance photographer with a passion for creating self-portraits filled with emotion. She started taking photographs at eighteen and although she went on to study Architecture in Munich, she always found the time and inspiration for photography, publishing her work on Flickr and Facebook, where she first started to get noticed.
Laura’s visual language is captivating and clear, narrating an intimate story in every image she produces. She believes photography to be a type of therapy and one of the motivating factors behind her work, capable of healing both ourselves and others.
In 2018, she was one of the seven international artists selected for the Adobe Creative Residency and has worked for companies such as Adobe, Artemide, Disney, Lufthansa, Sony, and more. Laura also teaches workshops and gives inspirational talks relating to photography throughout the world.
