About the final project for: Narrative Techniques for Comics with Soul

Narrative Techniques for Comics with Soul

“Writing a comic is not starting to draw without having thought well what you are going to draw. It has a very important previous work process that we must take into account. The first thing is to work the information well: to document, think, read, debate, listen ... They are essential parts to know where we want our story to go. Build on your own experiences and your own experiences to create a personal story. Your way of seeing life will always be reflected in your work. Remember to start with readings and viewing of movies, series and / or documentaries that deal with the same topic as your story. Remember to discuss and share with friends and / or family. Now share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your comic and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. Next, we are going to review the phases of the project that we want you to show us with images and / or words when you share it. Idea and concept As we have seen in Unit 2, we first have to define the controlling idea of the story, the idea around which the entire narrative revolves. Likewise, we also define the concept with which we work, with what feeling or idea we want our reader to stay once the comic is finished. Our concept was to treat the COVID-19 pandemic from a different point of view, giving a vision of how families who had a context of someone with functional diversity lived it. The storyline or synopsis was "A doctor in the middle of the pandemic has to pick up a girl with functional diversity who has health problems." Plot Next, you have to work on the written script and the plot to shape the narrative structure of the story.

Storyboard Afterwards, we work the storyboard to check the composition of the page, the choice of plans and even to ask for feedback from friends or work colleagues that we have so far.
Sketched Now it is time to make the sketch in pencil. We have done it in Clip Studio, but you can also do it with pencil and paper.
Inked Next, the sketches that we had made must be inked. In Unit 4 we teach you both the artisan process and digital inking, choose the technique you prefer.
Final art Finally, we apply color to our vignettes, as we showed you step by step in the "Color" lesson of Unit 4.
We hope you liked our course and that you have enjoyed our virtual company. And, you know, from now on you have us at your disposal for questions and queries. We are usually quick to answer, but it is also very possible that you will catch us at a time of a lot of work and we cannot answer you at the moment. have a little patience that soon we will find a hole and we can answer you without problems. And, of course, we do not believe we are in possession of the absolute truth. Just as we encourage you to debate with friends or family, the forum is a good place to debate with colleagues, we can all learn from each other. The opinions, always with respect and good manners, are well received and will surely help you to enrich your opinions well, well your story. See you on the forum! ”

“Final project At the end of the course, we will make a summary. First we will talk to you about La Grúa Estudio and then about our influences. Then we look for inspiration in the storyline and we developed the project bible. We understood how the comic It has served as a tool for social action and denunciation. We explain how visual metaphors work, the narrative structure and the six questions. We go from the script to the plot and from the plot to the storyboard. In the final art we made a sketch and we saw two ways of inking, handmade and digital. Finally, we apply the color and we learne...”
