Embroidery on wood
“Congratulations, you have already reached the end !!! Thank you very much for having entered with me in the wonderful world of wood embroidery. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do day by day. We are going to review the different steps we have taken. We started by getting to know each other a bit and I told you about my beginnings, my key moments in my professional development and my artistic and personal references. We continue to explore the materials, the different stitches, the segmentation technique of the drawing, and the drilling process. Afterwards, we got down to work with our pierced board and, applying what we learned, we embroidered our project on wood. Once finished, we studied the various ways to finish it off, the different cares and I showed you various applications and bases to continue giving wings to your imagination. Because as L´ABU says, "you can embroider everything that you can pierce". Next, we are going to review the different steps to follow to develop your final project embroidering a center of flowers on a wooden base: Make the drawing for the embroidery Draw the still life taking into account what stitches you want to make. When going to embroider on wood, you have to know what stitches, what holes and what distance between holes and thickness you have to make in order to do the embroidery.

Estela Botello, an artisan from Madrid based in Barcelona, is the creator of L'ABU Studio, whose objective is to recover the embroidery tradition and give it a new life, using wood as a base. The project was born as a tribute to her grandmother, who taught her to create with her hands: embroidering, knitting and crocheting.
Estela studied fashion design at the Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda in Madrid and for 12 years she has worked in large companies in the sector, including the Inditex group. After living in Istanbul and Bangladesh, he decided to change his career and create his own studio, where he seeks to create objects with heart and conscience, combining tradition and technology.
