“Preparing your hoop In this lesson, I'll show you how to put your fabric into the hoop so that you can trace your image. There are different types of hoops, whichever you choose is fine. The first thing I do is cut the fabric 1 inch, 5 cm, so that there's some excess fabric, a distance that leaves you some margin for handling the fabric. I like to leave the fabric square-shaped but another option is to cut it in a circle so that the corners don't get in the way when you're embroidering.
