Review all the material you need to start embroidering, as well as the designs to create your composition. Learn how to attach fabric onto your embroidery hoop, and start working on your drawing. Layla also teaches you her method when drawing and shows you how to prepare your composition using templates.
Once you’ve transferred your design onto the fabric, see in which order you need to embroider the elements of your composition to achieve a layered effect with different perspectives. Next, learn some basic color theory and see Layla’s method of selecting and applying colors.
Then, start embroidering. See the satin stitch, a versatile technique that helps create different textures, which will work as a base for your entire composition. As for materials, you’ll need 6-strand cotton thread, textile, embroidery hoop, size 18 needles, a pencil to draw on textiles, and scissors.
