Free Download: Pattern Cutting Manual

Pattern cutting is the art of making your fashion design ideas become a tactile reality.
If you are tired of envisioning groundbreaking garments that only models in your head can wear, it might be time to finally put together clothing that someone might actually be able to dress in.
Reagen Evans and the charitable free manual he gifts us through this article might just be the answer to your prayers (poor things, always praying for charitable downloadables!).

Reagen Evan's Fashion Charity
Today's teacher (@reagenvarross) is a driven and professional womenswear designer developing a modern and exclusive British couture house through his fashion company "BEWDE". His dedication to detail and overall elegant style are present in this statement of his:
"Specialising in couture one off pieces - I thoroughly enjoy solving the engineering problems within garment construction that are needed to put complex pieces together. With an architectural point of view, I can always translate a draping into the intricate flat patterns necessary for cutting on exquisite fabrics." - Reagen Evan

Full Course
Let's learn a bit more about this haute couture designer and his Domestika course on Introductory Draping and Custom Women's Clothing.
Reagan will teach you all the tricks, unveiling the secrets of fashion design magic (yes, a bit over the top... What is this a teleshopping ad?). From adding draping to your models to translating them into paper patterns, you will learn all steps necessary to design and make your own garment from scratch, from the outer fabric to the lining and closures. Get ready to create dream dresses that will delight your clients! From delight to clients! From dreams to dresses, from get to ready...! What else is there you can get "from" and "to"?
Even if you know nothing about fashion, you can still enjoy this course. This is my personal tutorial on how to do just that: Imagine you are in the late 18th Century in Britain sipping away at your cup of Earl Grey Tea (maybe this detail isn't historically accurate but it's the overall "vibe" that counts!) in a dank cloudy afternoon, all hope lost, in a sort of comfortable way... Reagen Evan's soothing voice can transport you to that time period and make you feel like if you were in a movie designing clothes for important noblewomen... Like in Phantom Thread...!
A fun afternoon! Then you realize you don't even know how to imitate a British accent, you rarely wash your hands and you enjoy smelling your own farts...! That's you not me, though!

The Pattern Cutting Manual, Finally...!
You've been waiting for so long (assuming you didn't skip the previous text like the delinquent you are...!). But now you'll finally be able to download the thorough and yet free Pattern Cutting Manual! But first I will talk about it some more (and don't skip it you, neglectful punk!):
In this 8 pages with tightly fitted information you will uncover the definition of all the pattern and fashion terms you probably didn't know about like "Bias": The diagonal cut of the material (to obtain a true bias the material should be folded at 45 o to the selvage). When a garment has a bias cut, it can give a soft clinging or flowing effect. Or like a "Draft"... I guess that one is more common...!
Then you will discover the detailed step by step process followed to complete your "Flat" pattern. From the basic bodice block to the grain line, the labelling pattern, the seam allowance and the notches... All words you'll need to look up in the manual's definitions chapter!

This is it for today! Just remember if you don't have a mannequin to pin your patterns onto, when using a human being don't be pinning them down all willy nilly, the same way...! They get upset for some reason...
