Free Download: Human Anatomy Fundamentals
In this article, Sarah van Dongen will guide us through her basic rules for human anatomy. Explore basic human anatomy guidelines, including body and facial proportions, and insights into various body parts.
Some humans might be "basic", but human body certainly isn't basic at all... Nonetheless, who cares about the accurate representation of the stapedius, the tiniest muscle in the body involved in acoustic reflex, when watching their favorite cartoons? Sure the cartoons will be hard of hearing as a consequence of having inaccurate "stapediuses"... But they might suffer even worse conditions not having other, more important organs, anyways...!
Sarah van Dongen
The creator of the yet undisclosed anatomy rules is the Dutch illustrator, nature lover, food lover (with a special weakness for cakes and coffee), cosy indoor lover (contradicting the nature loving, there...), and sketchbook drawing lover living in Amsterdam known as Sarah van Dongen (@sarahvandongenillustration). She also loved creating this basic anatomy guide, I'm assuming!
Sarah studied literature in Amsterdam and children's book illustration in Cambridge UK, and she has made several children's books and worked with different international magazines too.

I'll try not to spoil too much, but you can expect guides on how to draw heads, eyes, nose, lips and ears from different angles, as well as arms, legs, hands and feet... Basically all you'd expect except for the stapedius, the tiniest muscle in the body involved in acoustic reflex, no one cares about! Good luck talking to your drawing expecting a response!
