Virtual Reality and Beyond: Exploring New Digital Worlds

Since I experienced the first immersion goggles, Virtual Reality (VR) has always fascinated me as an unexplored frontier of technology and human expression. In my years at the ARVORE studio and in projects like "A Linha," I have explored the endless possibilities of this emerging technology. VR is not just a new form of entertainment; it represents a revolution in how we interact with the world and others.

In its early days, VR seemed like a distant dream, closer to science fiction than reality. The idea of creating entire, engaging, and immersive universes within a headset was fascinating. The challenge started with creating minimally convincing digital environments but soon expanded to interaction and narrative within these worlds.
One of the most exciting aspects of VR is its ability to transport the user to impossible places and experiences in the physical world. Whether recreating historical events, exploring space, or creating fantasy worlds, VR provides a window to the unlimited. In "A Linha," for example, we took users on a journey through time and space, creating a narrative experience only possible through VR.

Beyond entertainment, VR has transformative applications in education and training. At the Museum of Tomorrow, for instance, we used VR to create educational experiences that immerse visitors in scenarios ranging from the creation of the Universe to an imagined future, allowing them to reflect on the consequences of our choices as humans in the real world. Similarly, in collaboration with other companies, we explore how VR can be used for various purposes. Possibilities range from training, including medical simulations, to communication skills.
One of the ongoing challenges in VR is creating truly immersive and interactive experiences. This involves not only realistic graphics but also integrating the user's body into the virtual space, encompassing interaction design concepts and creating intuitive interfaces that allow users to naturally engage with the virtual environment.

Looking to the future, I see VR evolving beyond games and entertainment. With technological advancements, the barriers between the physical and virtual worlds are fading away. This opens incredible possibilities for communication, collaboration, and creation in a shared space that transcends physical limitations.
I believe VR has the potential to profoundly change our understanding of reality. It challenges us to rethink what experience, presence, and even our relationship with our bodies and humanity mean. VR is not just a technology; it is an entirely new way to explore, learn, and connect. Being part of this revolution is a unique career opportunity, and I am excited to be at the forefront of this exploration, pushing the limits of what is possible and imagining new worlds waiting to be discovered.
