Many people buy a nice sketchbook and then leave it untouched in a drawer, not daring to break it in. Suddenly, the first page seems too important, the paper too pristine, and the expectations too high for a simple sketchbook. A sketchbook isn’t the place to prove that you can draw. Rather, it’s where you learn to look more closely, to experiment without a safety net, and to build confidence little by little, one clumsy stroke at a time.
