“Hello! I am Aslı, 42 years old, and I have been doing amateur illustration for 2 years. I did not graduate from any art school; I have always been interested in drawing since my childhood. My profession is agricultural engineering, but I never had the chance to work in this field after graduation. My photography journey started when I joined a club at university and continued as my profession after finishing school. Although photography is another visual art, it never satisfied me as much as drawing did. The shift to working from home during the pandemic allowed me to spend more time on drawing. I especially enjoy working with watercolor techniques, which resonate with me deeply. Tutorial videos on the internet have greatly helped me improve my drawing skills. However, the best thing for me was getting an iPad, discovering the Procreate app, and finding Domestika. I realized I could progress much faster with Procreate. The two courses I have taken on Domestika so far have been very inspiring. Lucy Fleming’s wonderful course made me believe that I might actually realize my dream of writing and illustrating a children’s book. On the other hand, Jim Spendlove’s course helped me discover my own style. His calm and magnificent world of lines deeply affected me, and I took a lot of inspiration from his style in my drawings.

In my future plans, I hope to sell my illustrations as printed products. Whether it becomes a job or not, illustration seems to always be a part of my life because it makes me feel so good.”
