Anke-Mari Geldenhuys

Hello, I’m Anke-Mari and I am a Cape Town-based creative utilising my practice to address modernity. In 2016, I shelved my lab coat to pursue a career in the arts. This shift did, however, not cause me to abandon science. Instead, it has provided me with a critical, logical and planetary perspective of contemporary society and illuminated my need to create meaningful work.

My work fundamentally deals with the human condition and its complex relationship with nature. Through my creative practice, I urge humanity to escape the illusive walls of their comfort zone and expand their knowledge of being in a world characterised by ecological disparity, intelligent design, global development, and a burgeoning human population.

By means of art and design, I map my curiosities. To make is to question, to seek, to find, to think, to see, to understand, to feel, to appreciate, and to share. In essence, it is a means of living. My mission is to create collaborative and contemplative spaces where speculation, transformation and imagination are encouraged - and critical dialogue is cultivated.
