Autumn

Autumn interprets a tree (mother nature) as a collectible art-object that invites to a cycle of rest, contemplation
and a state of stillness.
Presented in Design Week Mexico 2022 in Mexico City.

I used a 2 m by 1.5 m frame loom to do a vertical weaving. Natural fibers, such as agave, cotton, yute, pita and banana fiber.

I gathered pita fiber in raw color and naturally dyed, cotton in raw color and naturally dyed, yute and hemp. The cotton was naturally dyed with walnut husk, which was used for the branches, combined with yute and hemp. Part of the pita fiber (Aechmea Magdalanae), was naturally dyed by master artisans from Oaxaca, with marigold and indigo, to obtain this greenish tone. Once I had my fibers ready and shipped, I started setting up the warp on my "custom simple frame loom" of 2 meters by 1.5 Mts., and began with the development of the branches and in the end, the development of the leaf. I made a security thread on every leaf and branch, to secure more our weaving.
