My project for course: Color Theory: How to Apply It to Your Images_Lisa van Winsen

This is my process for the final project.
I’m a childrensbook illustrator and want to use my colors more efficiently.
I choose a forest with a little witch, on her way home with a spell in her hand.

I found it very difficult to draw environments, so this was a good challenge for me.
Very often it becomes dull with lack of contrasts and details, because I don’t know how to fill the space. So here I’ve tried to make it interesting, and give it movement.
I used a family of yellow-greens, greens and blues en one of orange and reds.

Following the steps made it easier to set the colors and fill the space. I’ve tried to hold on to my values, and use different colors in the grass. Though it still looks a bit green overall. Feedback on the matter is welcome!

I made a dark on with lots of blues. It could be a lot darker maybe, but it still wanted it to be friendly and suitable for childrensbooks.
And I made one with surreal colors, lots of pink and oranges.
