Watercolor Landscapes: Experimental Tools and Techniques

For my final project, I was inspired by Jonna Jinton's content to attempt painting what we call the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. In Australia, we have a similar effect known as the Southern Lights or Aurora Australis. From there, I sourced some photographs from Unsplash. I placed a camp fire in the foreground to provide a warm element (excuse the pun).

I used water spray, salt and pigment lifting to get various effects, as well as softly blended washes. I didn't use a palette knife for this, but might in the future.
