Arturo Tedeschi teamed with the jewelry brand Maison 203 for a collection of algorithmically generated 3D printed accessories. “When it comes to designing 3D printed jewellery it’s easy to fall into the trap of making design for designers.” The fascination for natural processes and their direct translation into objects often leads to intricate structures which forget an essential detail, i.e. the body shape should participate in the design.” For the Lava and Loron collections - that include two jewelry sets designed by Arturo Tedeschi – the passion for generative design perfectly matches with a classic idea of proportions. For the Lava collection each piece has two levels of reading: the boundary volume shows measured proportions and enveloping forms, designed “by hand” using virtual reality tools. Freeform details come from mathematical algorithms that generate molten rock-like form like the lava flow that cools down and solidifies on a beautiful body. Each accessory of this collection involves a composite craftsmanship, which includes: manual sandblasting, painting, handmade assembly.
