The game
“Jungle” is a traditional Chinese board game for two players. It resembles a game of checkers and chess. The board represents a jungle with lakes and traps. The objective is to face the dangers and other animals, that have different strength levels, to reach the target: the opponent's den. It's played on a 7x9 checkboard with water areas or rivers, two dens and three traps border each den. Each player has 8 game pieces representing different animals, each with a different rank.
Translating Bioshock to a boardgame
The game it's set in Rapture, the Victorian/Art Deco submerged city but technologically adapted, full of neon lights and experiments. Also, it’s where a socio-economic crisis take place and destabilizes everything and everyone. There is a substance that when manipulated generate the Plasmids, a ki nd of liquid that when injected, gives the person different power abilities. Splicers are the name given to the ones that have become corrupted and deformed by substance abuse.

University Project Proposal
This is a University Project* in which we had to develop a redesign of a classic board game, using the same rules and original components, recreating the visual interface. The project includes the checkboard, pieces, rules manual and packaging, on a 1: 1 scale. The chosen game was “Jungle”, also known as "Jungle" or in Chinese "Dou Shou Qi" and the redesign was made based on the background history and environment developed in the video game “Bioshock I” (the redesign does not focus on the main story that the player experiences, but on the setting and stories created for giving context to the game universe).
