Rita Gudiño

I am an Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts (UPCFA). My claim to fame is propelling the founding of the UPCFA Ceramic Studio, where I continue to direct its programs and operations. I put up Tahanan Pottery Shop and Studio together with my husband. Tahanan (home in Filipino) offers all things pottery, from ceramic works, clays, ceramic raw materials, tools, and equipment to pottery classes and workshops. My magnum opus is a kiln art I call LUAL, a sculptural kiln in the form of a birthing woman giving birth to ceramic babies. Apart from the first LUAL I built at the grounds of the University of the Philippines, I also built and fired LUAL at the 2015 International Ceramics Festival.
