Character Design: Nomi.Douro [道路・ノミ]

Here is my project for the character creation course by Andrea Jen. I wanted to focus on a character/story that could be used in a JRPG videogame as well as a manga comic book.

The main theme I wanted to work for the character is self-acceptance. I always have had problems with self-acceptance and I have been very influenced by what others may think of me so I wanted to focus on a theme where I have my own experience.

The story summary that can be read in Japanese on the first page is as follows:
"In this world, magic has been extinguished. People that have had on their DNA the capability of using magic are known as "Hosts" but they were persecuted and executed a long time ago by the Empire of the Northern Realms who now is the more powerful and influential realm in the world. Magicians and Hosts, now they only appear in tales to scare children and legends.
21 years old Nomi Douro is a quite normal student in her last year of university. She is quiet, loves to study, always living guided by the rules and by what she is supposed to do. The lonely quiet girl that does not like to stand out among the others, she does not like to get the attention as she is so vulnerable to what other people may think of her. Her will of doing what is supposed to be right is often contrary to her true feelings.
While some rumors point out to some people that are disappearing, Nomi has a secret she is about to discover, she is a "Host". Nomi will try to keep the secret but some events will force her to be exposed to other people. She will soon begin a journey of self-discovery and acceptance at the time she discovers unexpected allies and a truth hidden about the world she is living."

She's the most powerful magician but she's afraid of being rejected.
