I did and did not enjoy this course ;) Some techniques were inspiring, others were not at all. It was difficult for me to do this course at first, because I tend to create art with lots of details and I always want them to be realistic. Going back to more childlike play is really not for me, it makes me feel very tense for some reason. Maybe it's because I have spent a lot of time learning how to draw and trying to perfect it, that letting all of that go feels a bit like foolishness. I obviously had some mental blocks while doing this course. ;) However, in the end it got a bit easier for me to let go and I actually started to enjoy some of it. I loved doing the research and creating the accordion books. I always do research, but actually cutting out images and putting them in my sketchbook was very inspiring. I also enjoyed the collage. I will also be making more stamps in future and decided to take a course about creating stamps here on Domestika.
There is always a lot of talk amongst artist about painting more loosely and letting go and all that, but I don't think that is for everyone. Even though I love Monet for instance, I enjoy creating realistic botanical art, which is very precise. I think it's a good thing that we all have different ideas, tastes, skills etc, otherwise we would all be creating the same art. ;) I could probably go on and on about this topic, but I won't LOL.
In hindsight I am very happy I took this course, because I have learned a lot about myself while doing it and it has inspired me to use some of the techniques in future. Also, the teacher is lovely, so thank you for this course!
