@julie_mellan Thank you. I'm afraid, the next steps could be disappointing, I've never been good in color. It's why I'm following your course. I was curios how do you get the partially contrast colors harmonized. Well, the first trick I didn't know was the underpainting. I know it just from oil painting. Regarding waterecolor I'm self taught and I paint seldom. All what I know about it Ihad learned analysing the works of german illustrator Doris Eisenburger.
I like the colors in the "almost finished" version better than in the final version. I think there is more contrast in the older version and I can see the details more clearly, and the scene - which depicts the otter as an animals that is hunting its prey - somehow contradicts the very soft colors in the final version.
That being said, I love all the beautiful details in your picture like the bird and the flowers, the branches and all those plants.

Hallo Sonja, sorry for a delayed answer. Having my father with advanced Alzheimer dementia to care I'm just sometimes to distracted to write something reasonable.
Thanks for the comment. I'm always glad to get some feedback. Regarding the project, none of the versions makes me really happy. I'm having a permanent issue by the paper I use. I get a fully other result as soon as the watercolor has dried. Completely blunt, no contrast, no briliance, no saturation. Unpredictible. The first version has been therefore overcontrasted, the second much to pale.
So I'm going to create a third and definitely last version of the image on another paper. Julie recommended the brand Arches. Hope, it works this time according to my expectations.
BTW, I love Nico. He has a lot of expression and I'm sure, he would be very appealing to the Kids.
@sarah_14 Hello Sarah, thanks for your comment. It's nice to know that there are people REALLY taking a glimpse on someone's work. As for otters, it's actually my first approach with this animal but I consider otters as smart and loveable and I had been temptated to try out a drawing of them for a long time. I bear a really nice story for it in my mind, but I won't have time depict it. I'm just tracking to many other projects presently.
@benedettina Thank you for the kind words. Since I was little I loved to discover details in book illustrations. For this reason I always try implement additional elements in my own works. And you are fully right, otters are extremly likeable and cute animals. I'm actually having an nice short otter story in my mind but there are other, more urgent projects and I'm bound by familiar matters and formalities.
Even now I'm on longer journey and today it's my first day after several weeks that I'm having a stable internet and time to write more than two or three words:)

Hello, sorry for the late reply. I'm currently restarting my company after a break and it specializes in creative work for equestrian circles.
I've always wanted to make children's books, but I like horse art just as much children illustrations and you can make a better living from it.
I had a lot of fun creating the illustration, I also imagined a story in which a clumsy otter tries to learn different fishing techniques from other animals in order to make mom proud.
Unfortunately it will be another project in my overfilled drawer, but I'm happy that you liked the picture

Ton travail est magnifique, la scène est très dynamique, surtout grâce aux bébés loutres. Et ton décor est splendide. Je cherche des cours sur ça notamment, Il y a beaucoup de cours sur les personnages, mais moi, c'est les incruster dans un décor, et jouer avec la perspective qui me pose problème. J'aimerais bien un cours sur ça, en restant dans l'illustration jeunesse et l'aquarelle.
En tout cas je trouve ton projet très très chouette. Même si tu fais dans le milieu équestre maintenant, sache que tu as quand même beaucoup de talent dans l'illustration.

I must say that your painting caught my eye because otters are my favorite animal. This is a very well done painting that tells a story. Love it!
