Scheherazade: My project for the Fine Art Self-Portrait Photography course

I had to solve a lot of problems to get this shot: I wanted the feeling of an old person (I’m 71) still able to fall into the magic of a favorite childhood book and become her favorite characters in her imagination, which never ages.

I had to recall my favorite childhood book, then search for it and order it. I had to learn how to use a remote for the PIVO I attached my iPhone to. I had to create a studio in the guest bedroom, then I had to drag forgotten lights from the garage—a Diva ring light is what I found and used. Then I had to add costuming and posing so my hand with the remote in it couldn’t be seen—so many details! My instructor Danny Bittencourt was very encouraging and inspiring in her videos.

This was a great class, and I never would have learned and accomplished so much otherwise. Thank you Domestika!
