I drew and painted as a child but not until I retired from teaching (not art) did I have the time to explore what has always been at my core. After a year of copying Impressionists, which got me to pick up a brush, I jumped into portraits... and here I am 5 years later. I paint most days and choose photos of children from different countries. I have to be emotionally drawn to them... to sense a feeling I try to express. I struggle with not being free enough and hope to find the courage to let go. Intuitively I know that will add to the emotion I want to express, but I don't know how to get there.
