Kathrine Johansen

I have been an artist since I was a child. I first learned China painting when I was 14 yo and sold my first works. I then progressed to acrylics and oils. In my 40s I owned a large country gallery representing many local artists. I also make lots of things and started sewing as a child, have been a fashion designer and maker, was a cotourier in Sydney and designed and manufactured products in small communities in Asia to promote self sustainainability and sold in my gallery to raise money for rescued children. In the last ten years I explored encaustic art making my own wax paint, and more recently water colour as I intend travelling and can carry it easily. Over my life I have really been interested in learning different techniques, then combining what I learned. I see beauty everywhere and often imagine how I can capture what I see using the techniques I have learned. I think this is my passion.
