Elena Rossi

Ilgeko (Elena Rossi) began her artistic career with body painting in 2001 and shortly after with the first experiments in photographic manipulation and digital painting. In 2005 she was among the first users of the international art community, and of the first social network in history, "Deviantart", with the nickname "Ilgeko", which has remained her "stage name" ever since. She continue to train herself as a digital artist by exchanging ideas and tools on this platform. She begins to create her digital brushes on Photoshop, coming to compose a library of over 12,000 unique objects. Among the first artists to share works and resources under the "Creative Commons" license in Italy, she participated in some events to explain the potential of this tool and of the "open source" communities. For years, her works have been based on a constant research around the concept "Feeling like a puzzle", digital paintings, videos and creations of short musical pieces, to explore this "feeling" made up of an infinity of pieces. Being "human", combinations, divisions, facets, emotions, fears, illusions. Pieces and pieces of this ever-changing puzzle, impossible to finish. Despite the difficulty of making digital art understood in Italy, as it is considered less than "material" art, this research continued for about ten years, and met the favor of some admirers of the works, which in the meantime were created as "Digigraphie" certified Artworks, on high quality materials. In 2016, with the fundamental support and help of a friend, she began to bring together artists of all kinds in a collective that will be called "Secondo Piano a Sinistra: SPaS" (Second Floor on the Left) which is based at his home, in Via Tavoleria 20 in Pisa, on the second floor on the left.

On April 1, 2016, more than two hundred people turned up at the inauguration evening which hosts, in addition to the artist exhibiting, the entire collective that lends itself to interaction with the city. In the following three years she organized more than eighty events, collective, personal, performances, concerts and two summer festivals under the name “Re MIDA: Relax, Musica, Divertimento, Arte" (Relax, Music, Encounter, Fun, Art), (on facebook the page is "ReMIDA Festival). The events always attract many people, the sense of community of the city with the artists is supported by the fact that the events take place in a private house, revolutionized for each evening even with the construction of architecture, and where anyone who participates is treated as " one of the house ", a" tenant ". The Facebook page, which still exists, has more than three thousand members. All this will end following a fire that developed in Elena’s house one night for a short circuit in October 2019. The time needed for the renovation arrives in February 2020, followed by the lockdown and restrictions for the coronavirus, Elena's adventure with Second Floor on the Left ends here. During the lockdown Ilgeko increases her production and successfully sells her works through Facebook. Like an "art dealer", she delivers them to buyers with masked and fleeting encounters. Since then, she has made more than three hundred paintings, a commissioned mural and three solo exhibitions where many people have been moved to tears.
