Cassandra Sabo

Hi! I'm Cass, a textile designer, hand-weaver, educator and all round lover of textiles based in Oxford, UK. I love to weave richly-textured pieces that explore and combine unusual materials and fibre arts techniques to create sustainable art, textiles and lighting, working with private clients and design professionals worldwide.

Although I have been living in England for almost 20 years, I was born and raised in Montreal, Canada where I studied building engineering. But in my mid 20s I found myself on a journey, traveling the world, exploring the arts and searching for my passion in life. This ultimately led me to London and Central Saint Martins where I completed a degree in textile design, specialising in weaving in my 30s.

Alongside my design practice, I am a passionate educator. Working with both adults and children at my community weaving studio, The Oxford Weaving Studio, I share my love and knowledge of weaving and the broader fibre arts. It is here where I also researched, designed and developed The Oxford Frame Loom, a new type of frame loom that aims to bridge the gap between hand-weaving and tapestry weaving, enabling weavers of all levels to discover and explore this craft in new ways.

Today my goal is to share my love of weaving with the wider community and to inspire others to learn, grow and discover their weaving style.
