Introduction
Embroidered Needle Lacemaking is a craft steeped in history, adorning everything from elegant dresses to cherished home accessories. Each piece carries with it a sense of heritage and luxury, weaving together the beauty of tradition and the artistry of the present.

Supplies
For this project, I worked with linen fabric and two types of DMC threads, paired with sharp embroidery scissors. I used two kinds of needles—tapestry and embroidery needles, both from DMC—and, most importantly, an abundance of time filled with joy and dedication.

Preparing the design
chose to base this work on the doors of the old city in my hometown. My first step was to gather photographs of these historic doors, capturing their shapes, details, and spirit. I then explored various embroidery needle techniques, deciding how to translate these doors into the language of thread and stitc

Choosing the colour
Selecting the color palette proved to be a challenge. The doors and windows I studied were adorned with a rich variety of shades—each beautiful, each competing for attention. After much consideration, I chose a deep, dark green, a color that captures both the elegance and the timeless character of these old doors.

Deciding the design
At this stage, I brought together all the photos and ideas. I selected my color palette, and from each image, I took specific elements I wanted to include. Guided by the stitches demonstrated in this course, I chose those that best suited my vision, shaping the design so that the doors could be reimagined through embroidery.

The final step
With my ideas complete, I began stitching, letting each thread carry the story of the old city’s doors. As the design came to life, the work transformed into a tribute—a visual memory of my hometown’s heritage, framed in the delicate art of needle lacemaking.
