Irwan Cornelius

Hello! I’m Wan. I’m the co-founder of PlayPause (a digital design & marketing company) which I run with my wife.

I’ve always been interested in design since my childhood where I remembered tracing and re-drawing some of my favourite bands logos. Album covers have always captivated me even before I knew the term ‘graphic design’.

After gaining formal education in Visual Communication from both NAFA (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts) and Lasalle, my practice in design begun with music album covers and gig posters. Friends in the music scene who wanted to distribute their songs to the local radio stations roped me in to design their album covers.

For the love of music, I briefly worked with the defunct HMV (His Master’s Voice) for 2 years before I was recruited to work with a hospitality company, Emerald Hill Group (EHG). With EHG, I was given the responsibility to create 3 of its brands, and manage the marketing collaterals for all of its 13 brands.

Keeping up with the technology, I adapted to design for digital platforms; this includes social media marketing design and video editing.

While I’m not designing, I kick about some football (or soccer to some!) or play board games to rest my creative brains. I also love travelling and exploring.
