Vanessa Vieira Cox

My name is Vanessa Vieira, I am a painter, photographer and illustrator based in New York City. My first drawings were made with colored pencils that were a gift from a neighbor. My tools were basic but perfect for capturing the simple beauty, dignity and colors of my hometown, Salvador. I am inspired by my love of people and culture. I launched my business in the streets of Bahia, where I was mesmerized by the colors of the clothes and the joy of my people. Even though I have been living in New York now for 3 years and even though I have found beauty in the different cultures and people I have experienced here, when I sit down to create art, my heart always ventures out to the same place… Salvador da Bahia, my hometown.
