Valérie Yobé

Valérie Yobé is doctor in Semiology and associate professor in graphic design at l’École multidisciplinaire de l’image (ÉMI) - University of Quebec in Outaouais (UQO), where she has been teaching since 2001. After starting a career in advertising in Paris, she continued in graphic design in Quebec with clients in the social and cultural fields.
Valérie Yobé Yobé promotes the practice of and research on graphic design in order to make it a real object of knowledge.
In 2013, she was elected as one of the member of the Board of Directors at Société des designers graphiques du Québec (SDGQ). She is also accredited DGA (a SDGQ professionnal accreditation in graphic design).
In 2014, she created the non for profit organization la tribu grafik.
Through activities like curating, collaborative initiatives between practitioners, editorial projects, critical thinking, workshops, here and overseas, la tribu grafik conceptualizes et produces research- creation projects allowing to rethink the uses of design, decompartmentalize practices, innovate socially et culturally.
In 2017, she got a three year grant from Le Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC), Support to research-creation, for the project : Graphisme citoyen : pratiques artistiques et construction du lien social au sein de l'école primaire.
