Adetokunbo Doherty

I have over 25 years’ experience of working on large Infrastructure Development Projects both in the United Kingdom and Africa. I have spent most of his career working for major Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy practices, (Ove Arup & Partners, Watermans, Aecom & Atkins). I have also been involved in some of the largest city centre regeneration and property development projects in the UK, (Liverpool one, Grand Arcade Wigan, Eagles Meadow, Wrexham, etc.), and also large infrastructure projects, (Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Paddington basin, Reading Sewage Treatment Works, World Bank Infrastructure project, Offshore Gas pipe bridge for Foster Wheeler etc). He also has experience of working with some of world’s top Architects, (Forster & Partners, Broadway Maylan, Building Design Partnership, Grimshaw, etc.). I am experienced in leading Civil/Structural teams on large Property & infrastructure development projects and proficient in structural scheme and detailed design utilizing Structural Steelwork, reinforced concrete, timber and m a s o n r y a n d s t r u c t u r a l g l a s s . I am a certified as Green Building Consultant, (through EDGE certification).

I am on this course to develop Architectural Skills and Knowledge., and work on communicating my ideas to my clients, especially on the aspect of sustainability and the value this brings to all our projects.

I am not an Architect, but because I have worked on buildings for most of my career and run a design and build firm based in Lagos, Nigeria, the demands of ensuring that our proposals are sustainable and functional, and how this is better communicated to our clients is what i am hoping this course will help us with.
