I'm Thomas Vancoppenolle (°1994, Oudenaarde, Belgium), an open and creative soul that moved to Barcelona, after years of visiting the city and collecting most of my material for projects here. I got my master degree at the academy in photography, in 2019.
Since then I've been looking for a job or position that supports my growth as a person, and to which I can give my fullest to support or give my skills to the employer I connect with.
I have an aptitude and love for multilingualism, and am seeking a part-time position in the cultural or educational sector, anything with an emphasis on genuine connection, conversation, understanding and listening, creative thinking and projects, mental health awareness or creative expression.
My experiences so far are in catering industry, ranging from restaurant to breakfast or lunch places, and working as a warehouse worker for IKEA for two full years.
Sociable and spontaneous towards clients, always eager to connect and talk using different languages.
A sense of responsibility and autonomy.
About my personal, creative work:
"My work often explores the notion of a place, and the way in which we perceive and experience emotional qualities of a lanscape on a more personal level. In what ways are we affected by the mental and sensorial qualities of a ‘landscape’ as a phenomena in itself, and how much of ouw own subconscious do we project onto the places that we seek out or encounter throughout our lives?
Through the collection and interconnection of fragmented images of places and landscapes, writings, sounds or sculptural works, I process and mould these questions into auditive and visual works.
I want to bring a sense of life or organic energy into an otherwise static experience. Inviting the viewer into a personal dialogue with these temporary places, slowing down in their tracks.
How can a work breathe, feel as if it’s still tangible right here and now? Can it have a vivid, felt connection to us and speak to us on a more personal level, mainly through forms and sound?"
