Kring Demetrio

KRING is an illustrator based in Cebu City, Philippines. She draws inspiration from reading folkloric stories, visiting history museums, and obsessing over grotesque art.

Deeply embedded in her drawings, are markings made from empty ballpoint pens and wooden skewers; usually depicting flow and lines but sometimes, other decorative images too—reminiscent of her childhood days hiding messages.

For her training, she has undergone a few art mentorships through online classes. In 2018, she won the Lampara Books Illustrator Prize from the Philippines. Her work can be found in magazines, tabletop games, children’s books, album covers, and gallery shows.

She lives with her partner and their three cats.
