I took up woodworking through evening classes some years ago. One stool I made (to a tutor’s design) included a cane woven seat. My job took me overseas for several years at a time, so often the woodworking was put on hold until a return period in Australia. Having recently retired, I hope to do more furniture-making.
I have also enjoyed restoring or renovating old furniture, such as simple chairs that may have started with staw seats, then been re-done (?in the ‘40s or ‘50s) with a pressed timber seat, which I have then experimented on with coloured para-cord; and was very pleased with the results. I want to use Danish cord on both old pieces, and a new piece I plan to make this year. I enjoy gardening and walking.
