Im a middle aged Aussie living in the Netherlands for more than 20 years. I've always had a camera but until recently didn't really know what to do. in the last 18 months i got interested in Humanist philosophy and found humanist photography e.g. HCB, Edouard Boubat, Doisneau, Martine Frank, Sabine Weiss etc. So I started practising Street photography always with an idea of eventually doing something useful in the direction of social documentary work. I decided to photograph in black and white exclusively for a year and it has stuck with me, i find i can make impactful pictures in bnw, colour is harder for me. I have started making pictures at protest rallies, i find it exhilarating and thoroughly engaging. Now wanting to start on a documentary. Influences include Chris Killip, JA Mortram, Merv Fitzhenry, Don McCullin, Neil Davis, Eddy van Wessel, Stefan Vanfleteren and Ed van der Elskin. I'm starting to think of some subjects for a documentary and have come to this course to find out how to go about it all
