I have always been a sketcher, although I trained in materials science and art was very much a spare time activity before retirement. I have worked in most media but at the moment most of my work is in ink (fineliner, fountain pen or dip pen - my first love) and watercolour. My favourite subjects are still life and urban sketching. I follow a number of the pen-and -wash sketchers on Instagram. I love the work of Ian Sidaway for his use of colour and enjoy seeing work by a wide range of artists, such as John Lovett, Joseph Zbudvic to name but two. I am following Felix Scheinberger's course because I admire the freedom and impact of his work.
I am following Fujiko Rose's course because I want to explore new ways of working with pen and ink. I liked the examples she shows in the trailer and thought it would be interesting to explore this style.
