After years of doing art in some form or other since, mostly drawing faces and figures since very young, I am now retired so can enjoy doing more art and attending local workshops to learn different styles, plus online classes. Having always loved portraits, my mediums expanded from pencils, conte, crayons, to mixed media, mainly acrylics, some watercolours, now into more oils. I was born in Nottingham England, but emigrated to Western Australia with husband in 1976, and haven't looked back since. While in the UK I worked for years in Advertising Departments, Advertising Companies, doing finished art preparation and also typesetting in Printing Companies as well as doing proofreading.
I also enjoyed an opportunity to go to Italy myself on an Art Tour organised by Jana Vodesil's art group to Tuscany a few years ago, which led to some pastel paintings from photos of streetscapes afterward. I work mostly from photographs for portraits, landscapes and more recently seascapes, still life, fruit and veg. I did join Let's Face It courses online by Kara Bullock Art, and her art community on facebook, though not a fan of facebook, I did learn a lot from the downloadable video classes and pdfs supplied.
Since then I have been building up a body of work for an exhibition, including scans for prints for a few, but intend to get my art online. I am a member of the Rockingham Regional Arts group for a few years since moving there.
Thanks for the opportunity to now learn more on oil painting via Domestika course by A.J. Alper, whose excdellent videos I have been listening to until I can start the workshops. My artwork has been exhibited only minimally locally and in some art supply windows, as well as shared in Skype with my contacts there.
