My early career was as a scenic artist and painter for the Scottish Ballet, National Museum of Scotland and the Royal Lyceum Theatre. After my Masters degree in Landscape Architecture (Edin) I left to take up a residency in Sri Lanka, as a botanical artist and landscape architect entrusted with compiling plans and plant inventories of an artist's garden (Bevis Bawa of Brief) and of an architect's estate (Geoffrey Bawa). I travelled far and wide with sketchbooks, on my Enfield motorbike, settling for a few years in the Indian Hymalaya. I then settled in Belgium and a studio with views over Vlaams Brabant where I painted large landscapes. Now I am teaching the ecology of landscape architecture and botanical illustration. I live in a small rural community with a garden studio. I play the violin, swim (used to surf!) and practice yoga.
