Cynthia Quick

Introduction

My name is Cynthia Quick and I live in Chicago with my dog Misha (Pomeranian). After graduating from the University of Toronto in Latin American Studies, I moved to Montreal where I taught English as a Second Language. Most of my career though has been working in the Arts in Chicago, coordinating and promoting large and small scale events ranging from the International Festival of Flowers and Gardens at Navy Pier to performances and exhibitions in support of visual artists, dancers and writers. I worked at the Chicago Department of Culturla Affairs from 2000 - 2008 and the artist residency Ragdale until 2018.

In 2019 I retired and shifted my focus from arts advocate to aspiring artist. I took a number of introductory courses in botanical drawing and painting at nearby art centers, botanic gardens and conservatories, learning floral watercolor painting from scratch. I practice regularly with online tutorials and instructional books from various sources. And here I am – making my way from a rank beginner to a dedicated student.
