I really enjoyed this course, it kept me busy for a nice couple of days during quarantine times when I am unable to work (thanks, covid...)
I have been experimenting with calligraphy and lettering for a few years, (I work as a tattoo artist and illustrator), I even have friends doing all kinds of calligraphy too well... but I never learned the basics, I was only 'stealing' gestures. So I decided to spend a little quality time with developing my skills - this is how I found this course.
I found it really-really useful! I double-watched each videos and pushed myself until I managed to draw a proper R or S ( V is still not my friend though). I took my time and wrote long lines of each letters and when I was OK with that, I moved on to writing random words. Still have some troubles with the rythm, the spaces and the even bending, but it's getting better, it takes time, and I will keep on practicing and looking for more examples to find some variations I can build in.
I did my practice with Tombow Calligraphy pen as I soon realized that this was just the size I was used to... so next step is going 'bigger' with Koi.
I decided to pick some not too serious phrase I can work on, and I picked to make two silly words my friends made up when we were on holiday in the countryside last summer. These words don't even exist, they mean "sunshine jam" and "moonlight syrup", and remind me of some sweet silly and happy moments. For some extra 'fun' for my lettering, Hungarian writing contains double and accented letters like CS, SZ, NY, Á, É and Ö, just to mention a few.
I worked a lot on making the composition and I'm not satisfied at all, but I think I did learn a lot while making this and it's a good start for doing more.
Thanks for making my quarantine time better :)

This is really good! Thanks a lot for sharing it with us, not just the final result but the step by step and every decision you made. I'm so glad that this course kept busy for a couple of days on this quarantine, now you can keep drawing and practicing on these uncertain times :)
Cheers from Colombia!
