After several months of stitch after stitch... mission accomplished! We combined each of our techniques and are very proud of the final result.
The work process for the vignette's embroidery was as follows: after receiving Agustina's sketch, the premise was simple and challenging: to invent an embroidered tropical forest. Wow! Not easy… But the challenge was set, and I decided to improvise, combining stitches and giving in to inspiration.
First, I traced some lines to guide my character design. My task was to complete the background, so I outlined the characters and started stitching! I combined many stitches and different types of threads: metallic, fluorescent, Retors Cotton, Mouliné Satin, and Pearl Cotton (which DMC Spain provided me with, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank them! The color range was spectacular).
The second step was to photograph it to preserve the three-dimensionality of the tropical forest as much as possible. Ameskeria did a fantastic job. She retouched the photo to preserve the shadows, preserve the colors, and ensure the embroidery looked its best.
And finally, I passed the image to Agus so he could merge it with his cartoon. And then I printed it!

Todo empezó sentadas en una plaza en las Fiestas de Gracia de Barcelona el año pasado, de fondo se escuchaba un concurso de preguntas y respuestas y los vecinos participaban mientras se olía a lluvia… esa lluvia de verano.

Una doble página, una de las viñetas inéditas que se fue creando hablando mucho, compartiendo ideas y bocetando en nuestros encuentros. Proponiendo una escena… eligiendo puntos de bordado…. En nuestro imaginario estaba el resultado final y finalmente lo hemos conseguido.
Luego de varios meses de puntada tras puntada… ¡la misión se cumplía! Combinamos cada una nuestras técnicas y estamos muy orgullosas del resultado final.
El proceso de trabajo para el bordado de la viñeta fue el siguiente: luego de recibir el boceto de Agustina, la premisa era simple y desafiante “inventarme un bosque tropical bordado”. ¡Toma! Nada fácil…. Pero el desafío ya estaba servido y decidí improvisar, combinando puntos y entregándome a la inspiración.
Primero calqué algunas líneas para guiarme del dibujo de los personajes. Mi tarea era completar el fondo así que delimité los personajes y ¡comencé a bordar! Combiné muchos puntos y diferentes tipos de hilos: metalizados, fluorescentes, Algodón Retors, Mouliné Satin y Algodón Perlé (Que me ha cedido DMC España y ¡aprovecho para agradecer!, la gama de colores fue espectacular).
El segundo paso fue fotografiarlo para poder conservar al máximo la tridimensionalidad del bosque tropical. ameskeria ha hecho un gran trabajo. Ha retocado la foto para que no se pierdan las sombras, los colores se respeten y que el bordado luciera de la mejor manera.
Y por último pasarle la imagen a Agus para que la fusionara con su viñeta. ¡Y a imprimir!
