Introduction
Introduction
Wong Chun-Hei is a young Hong Kong-based artist, who during Covid-19 started roaming Google Earth and painting vibrant landscapes based on his digital journeys. For Enric Jardi's Editorial Design course, I created a catalogue of his works.

This project was entirely done in Adobe InDesign.
The cover
The cover
For the cover, I picked a striking detail of one of Wong Chun-Hei's paintings and overlaid the title in a subtle light pink taken from the background image.

Format and grid
Format and grid
The format of the catalogue is 8,5" square. The square format allows for landscape paintings to be printed as large as possible while leaving space for accompanying text.
I opted for a 12-column grid for maximum flexibility. Introductory texts are always on the top left of a left-hand page. Artworks will occupy the page from the bottom up to create a visually pleasing grouping of white space.

The catalogue
The catalogue
I designed a couple of inside pages for the catalogue to showcase the flexibility of the system. For one of Wong Chun-Hei's largest-scale works, I included a foldout page.
The typefaces used are Field Gothic No.27 for titles and Degular for body copy and captions. The bold compressed titles and the modern sans serif body typeface lend character to the texts in the catalogue without distracting from the artworks.
