Course project for Secrets of Photomontage and Creative Retouching

This project is my first venture into photomontage. As an editorial designer for education, photomontage is a skill that would be very useful to develop, so here goes!

The entire project was done in Adobe Photoshop.

First, I sketched my ideas on top of the base scene to determine the composition.

The first step of the montage process was removing the sky and replacing it with a more dramatic one.

Next, I added the elements required to establish the composition.

I reworked the color and lighting for each element, making sure to achieve a consistent coloring throughout.

Finally, I added shadows and highlights to separate elements and some light effects - searchlights and lens flare.

In Camera Raw, I made some last adjustments to arrive at my final product - slightly more dramatic lighting and subtle vignette.
